I am on a constant quest to better myself at art, every time I make something that takes countless hours and a certain level of detail I raise the bar again for me to surpass. This is one of those artworks ^^ this is what happens when I am inspired.

The lucky commissioner is ~Lance-Foxx my brother in spirit, he wanted his character as a were-fox performing a spirit dance in a nighttime desert scene.

This is honestly about as detailed as I can go, if anyone tells you there is 'nothing in the desert' I give you permission to kick them, HARD. I spent sooo many hours on those rocks coloring and blending, sand and bushes.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITIQUE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED! the artwork is 75% of its original resolution and some detail is lost.

Inspired by Owl City's "Fireflys" (god I hate the rest of their songs)

The lineart was drawn in opencanvas 1.1, the background digitally painted in paint tool sai, the werefox figure and lighting effects were digitally painted in opencanvas 3.03Eplus.

Rosie is a bit slow on commenting/catching up on others' art atm. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a…" width="19" height="19" alt="^^;" title="Sweating a little... - ^^;"/> But I've kept this in my inbox, 'cause I really wanted to comment on it!

This has to be one your best pieces lately. I thoroughly enjoy your use of complementary colors (yellows and violets), and your composition is visually pleasing. Your line work in the background works quite well - being soft enough to register as the background of the piece. It provides good contrast with the character's more pronounced line art in the foreground.

One thing that I have trouble with, though, is how much the character stands out from the background. Since the character has been rendered in warm colors and the background has been rendered in cool colors, the two contrast enough to make the character stand out a bit too much. By this I mean that the were-fox appears detached from the scene.

I think employing the Fennec foxes in the background was a splendid idea in order to establish that the were-fox is a part of the piece, and the yellowish lighting on the ground beneath the were-fox helps too, but I don't believe they're strong enough to keep the character in the scene. Perhaps using some cooler colors to shade the character might help incorporate it into the scene more?

Overall I think this is one of your strongest pieces yet, Holly, keep up the lovely work!
